So, first off, a huuuge thank you to Katie for tagging me :) I took like near enough a month to actually get round to this, I’m so disorganised! This is my first tag and I was so happy to have been considered, go check out her tag post!

My favourite blog right now…

I was actually never really up to date with the blogging community before starting my own and I’m only just kind of getting myself caught up now, but one blog I really like right now is “Ice Cream” whispers Clara by Elizabeth :) Not being biased off of the fact she’s my first follower hahaha, but I took a look at her page after she followed me and I just think it’s the cutest blog! Initially I think it was the theme of the blog that kind of drew me in, I love the whole romantic, vintage look – but every post makes me so jealous that I can’t pull it off the same way! Would definitely recommend taking a look :)

10 random facts about myself…

(Trying not to copy the ones from my previous post here!)

  1. I’m originally from a Scottish island, but I moved to Glasgow to study
  2. I’m an International Business student
  3. I’ve only just become a dog owner, and she’s named after Ellie Goulding (Ellie golden retriever, I know, we’re hilarious)
  4. This year is my 21st and I am dreading it. I hate the thought of being a twenty-something year old! Let me be 18 again!!
  5. My party trick is to bend my arms backwards. No idea how I can do it, but I’m GREAT fun at parties. No one’s ever requested it, but we’ll ignore that
  6. Right now I’m going through an obsession with The US Office for like the fifth time, I love it so much
  7. My favourite colour is, and always will be, pink
  8. I love music festivals, but I’ve only ever made it to one proper camping one! Forever watching on TV in complete jealousy :(
  9. My go-to perfume is always Nina by Nina Ricci, I’ve worn it for about 5 years now and still haven’t found anything I like better!
  10. I’m a night owl. I love heading up to the university library at like 8pm and pulling an all-nighter to get work done, I’m never productive during the day!

Blog nominations

So, I’m new to all this, and it means that I don’t really know many people at the moment! So I figured it’d be a bit weird if I just started randomly nominating people haha. I know it basically defeats the whole purpose of tagging, but if anyone sees this post and feels like joining in, then feel free! (Am I allowed to basically nominate everyone? Oh well)

Questions from Katie

What’s your favourite type of takeaway?

This is an incredibly difficult question for me! God knows how many takeaways I’ve ordered in the last while, but I suppose it’s probably got to be Dominos

Did you ever dream of changing your name, and if so what to?

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have a different name, I feel like Hannah doesn’t suit me sometimes? No idea what I’d want it to be though!

Do you believe in regretting things?

I’m actually really good at taking things as life lessons rather than regrets, no matter how bad the outcome… I suppose the only thing I’ve ever really regretted is not going for a media course in uni

How many pets have you owned in total?

I actually got my puppy the day after I got tagged in this! So I’ve now owned two goldfish and a puppy :)

What made you start blogging?

I played about with blogging and vlogging in previous years, but I wanted to start it seriously because I would still love to do something in media, and I figured it was a way to get involved in some way

Who is one person you want to thank for being there for you?

Is it really cheesy if I say my parents? They go along with every mad plan I set for myself and I never really thank them for any of it the way I should!

Where is your dream holiday location?

DISNEYLAND. I’m the only one out of my friend group who’s never been, it was my dream holiday as a 5 year old and it’s still the case as a 20 year old. SOMEONE TAKE ME, PLEASE.

What are your top three TV shows?

The US Office definitely, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, aaaand… probably Pretty Little Liars? I haven’t watched that as much recently but I don’t watch much TV haha

If you won the lottery tonight, what would you spend it on?

I’d probably go on a mad spending spree initially, and then save the rest… very boring hahaha

Who was your number one crush growing up?

Greg James forevaaaa. He started at Radio 1 when I’d just started listening and then one day when I was like 14 I saw a picture of him and here we are seven years on. Cringe

My questions to you

So if anyone does decide to join in on this one (again sorry for breaking the rules hahaha), here are my questions to you…

  1. Favourite day of the week?
  2. What is your dream job?
  3. What is one song you could listen to over and over?
  4. Did you have any nicknames growing up? Do you still get called them?
  5. If you could be any age, what would you pick?
  6. If you could live in any TV series, movie or book, which one would it be?
  7. Do you idolize anyone? If so, who?
  8. What is your favourite kind of music?
  9. If you could learn any kind of skill, which would you choose?
  10. What’s your favourite social media platform?

10 Lessons You'll Actually Learn at University

I actually didn't even realise this until I went to write this list, but I got my offer for university three years ago yesterday. How has time gone by that quick!? I know everyone says time's flying at the moment, but I'm really struggling to understand how I've nearly finished my 3rd year already, and all that's left after that is my honours year... gaaahhhh!

Anyway, I've been seeing so many university and college applications on Facebook recently, with all the school leavers posting their offers for places after the summer. It got me thinking; having experienced all this myself, what advice would I give them? Obviously, everyone's experience will be different. But, I came up with a list of the top 10 things I've come to realise during my time as a university student - without further ado, here are 10 things I've actually learned at university:

 1. The people you meet will change your life. Cliché, I know, but I’ve met so many people who’ve made this experience as amazing as it has been - even those I'm no longer in touch with

2. If you’re like me and you moved, or are moving out to attend uni, you soon come to realise that if you wake up ill and can’t face the idea of classes for the day… you don’t have to go! You suddenly don’t need to plead with your parents to let you skip a day – just remember not to make it a habit, of course... *cough*

3. You will learn how to seriously budget. I had no idea a whole roast chicken could be worked into a full week’s meal plan until I started spending all my money on going out as a first year

4. Speaking of which, HOW EXPENSIVE IS CHEESE. HOLY SMOKES. Growing up is a cruel, cruel trap

5. Don’t doubt who you’re capable of making friends with. There are so many people out there with different characteristics and interests, and unlike high school, it’s quite often welcomed. It’s all just very nice :)

6. You revert back into being a toddler. I used to hear this A LOT and I always figured that wouldn’t be me, I’d be an adult in the big, bad city and I’d be totally responsible… until I realised how amazing an afternoon nap is at age 18. And 19. And 20. You may also find yourself watching a lot of kids TV at lunchtime. One thing we found, which may be a one-off weird thing just for us, but playing hide and seek in the dark with like 15 other students can be a better laugh than a night out… Yeah, most likely just us.

(Aftermath of one game of hide and seek in the dark... think that was supposed to be a barrier!)

7. Irons are not a necessity! If your laundry place has a tumble dryer, you’re winning already… Failing that, hanging up your clothes while you’re showering will sort you out

8. Another top tip, you can quite easily organise your finances on banking apps while also avoiding seeing your more-often-than-not miserable balance by simply covering the total with your hand. Just make your way slowly to work out where the required tabs are and you’ll be grand

9. You will learn to really appreciate your hometown. I know SO many people who swore they would hardly ever return home after moving out, yet getting away and looking at it from a different angle will quite often make you realise how nice a place it is – if it doesn’t, then you’ll just appreciate the general idea of being back home anyway

10. Just make the most of it. I honestly can't believe I’m nearly three quarters of the way through; 2014 seems such a short time ago! I’m writing this now with 5 weeks left of third year, and my flatmates are graduating in the summer. Just really go out and enjoy yourself, push yourself to do something new, even just talk to people you wouldn't normally. It's such an amazing experience, plus you end up with a degree at the end of it!

(Don't worry, be happy - love drunk Hannah xoxo)

I GOT A PUPPY!

I had so much planned for the past week in the way of blog posts! Apologies for being so behind, but this time it wasn't down to a case of forgetting - I picked up a puppy on Friday!

I've wanted a dog since I was tiny, but there was never a good time for us to get one and unfortunately that time has now come about when I've moved out the house; my parents live about 6 hours away from me, on a small island, and so I've come home for the week to get the puppy settled in!

I am in LOVE. She's a wee nuisance right now, but she's the sweetest little thing! Her name is Ellie, and she's an 8 week old Golden Retriever :) Her favourite thing at the minute seems to be socks and slippers, despite the numerous toys she's been given!

(for some reason she looks like a totally different dog in every photo!)

I haven't done much else except for puppy-sitting, so I just haven't got round to even getting uni coursework done let alone some posts! Hopefully I'll make up for it next week! (Also expect plenty of pupdates from now on!)

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People: A Story

I have a new embarrassing story for myself :)

This initially happened like months ago, but my flatmate and I were out one night, we got out of the club and headed for food. We were standing waiting to get served when, for reasons that are unfortunately a tad cloudy, she got a hold of my phone and ended up requesting Greg James as a friend on Facebook.

Yeah, like Greg James, the Radio 1 DJ and presenter. Lil' backstory here – I’ve had a little bit of a crush on this guy since I was like 13, and shamelessly, everyone knows it (13 year old Hannah would be mortified at me right now, btw). My flatmate also knew this, and when I realised three days later that the request was still pending (and of course, therefore was ignored without even being rejected, rude), I just about died.

So that’s all good, right? I cancelled the request, life can continue – albeit, should I ever come to meet the poor guy I couldn’t disclose my identity out of fear of the police being called. But that’s not how I do things cause I’m just the absolute worst.

Fast forward like three months to last week, and it’s all forgotten about. Myself and the same flatmate spend the evening reminiscing on past years at uni with some wine, and eventually each head off to bed. But the reflections have me thinking. All the chat of lost friendships and fallouts have me feeling like amends need to be made. I need to make things right with people I have wronged in the past.
And of all the people, my intoxicated mind decided Greg was a must. As if he still lies awake at night, questioning over and over again whatever the case of that random Scottish girl was. So I wrote him an email, apologising and asking for his forgiveness. Then promptly fell asleep, and forgot all about it.

I’m a dedicated Podcastard (props if you know what this is), and so on Friday I put on the new edition of the "That's What He Said" podcast while I pottered around my room for a bit. And about 15 minutes in, I genuinely screamed.

Have you ever felt ready to curl up and die at the sound of Chris Smith with the News recounting your drunken antics? And only hearing Greg’s response as an audibly disgusted “oh god”? If so, is there any counseling available?

Moral of the story: don’t add strangers on Facebook, even if they’re radio presenters. Not only is it weird, but you’ll never live it down.

Five Friday Faves!

Hello luvvies :)

So I haven’t actually been doing much recently worth blogging about, just cause of uni and stuff (dissertations are looming, ew) so I figured I’d do a wee list of all my favourite things this week, and five of them just because alliteration – woo

1. This cushion

I’m very much in love with Primark’s home section, just cause they’ve got so many cute little things and I’m a sucker for that kind of stuff… but the whole student thing means I can’t go and buy everything (boo). I came across these gorgeous little rose gold cushions though! I’m in love with rose gold and am now considering changing the colours in my room around this cushion haha. They’re currently £3 in store, no idea why I only bought one!

(Enjoy my skirting board btw, my bed was too messy to take a photo of haha)

2. TRNSMT line-up

Hoooooly smokes I am beyond excited for this! I was gutted to hear about T in the Park being cancelled for this year, and when I heard there was going to be a different thing in Glasgow Green I wasn’t all that bothered. Then I kind of forgot about it all and was counting on Radio 1’s Big Weekend instead – till I realised TRNSMT is the Glasgow Green one! I adore Two Door Cinema Club and have been begging my friends to come to a concert with me for ages, I don’t even know how many times I’ve seen Twin Atlantic, Kasabian were amazing at T two years ago and BIFFY!!! I’ve somehow got to this stage without seeing them so far!? GAAAAH. Yes yes yes.

3. The Magic iPod

Admittedly, I didn’t come across this by myself. I was listening to Radio 1 while doing coursework the other day, and on Scott Mills’ show they were discussing this mad website where you can mix two songs – that really shouldn’t go together, FYI – and they just work, for some reason. So I tried it out and I can proudly say I stayed on there for a good hour, sending Snapchats of all my mixes to everyone. The link is here, pass on the magic! >>> http://themagicipod.com

4. Smoothies

Is this a weird one? I feel like it’s a weird one to have on here. It’s hardly a new concept to me, but I’ve been trying to eat more healthy the last few weeks and have started making smoothies for breakfast – I never eat breakfast btw, so this is like a major breakthrough. Practically living for my smoothies at the moment. Don’t judge.

5. NYX Lip Lingerie

So I know these have been out for quite a while now, but my local Boots only just got them in a short time ago and I’ve been patiently waiting to finally get some… I picked up “Bedtime Flirt” and “Corset” and I absolutely love them! I normally use the Kylie Lipkits, but these are quickly become my favourites – they’re really light and stay on for ages. Would definitely recommend! :)

Oops...

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I am ridiculously bad at keeping up with things I start. Like, I'm not even going to make an excuse for this one. I genuinely just stopped.

But never fear, for I am actually going to make an effort this time! I was thinking too much before about how to set this all out, pick a theme and stick to it... but that just tripped me up, so now I've figured this is just going to be a whole "this is what I'm at and also look at this" kind of blog. I haven't exactly been at much recently anyway, but you know. I'll find something.

K LETS GO

(oh n happy new year 2017 woo)
